Looking for Iron On Labels that last? Look no further! Our Iron On Labels are washing machine and dryer safe. No peeling, curling, or fading for years to come. And to top it all off, they’re super quick and easy to apply, making them perfect for anyone labelling their kid’s clothes for daycare or school.

Watch how easy it is to use our Iron On Labels!

Need more instruction? Not a problem! Follow this easy step-by-step guide:

Some extra tips:

  • Use a larger sheet of parchment paper to cover the surface of the fabric so that the iron doesn’t cause any damage to the clothing.
  • If you can’t get the hang of the iron, some of our customers say they find it easier to use a hair straightener to apply their labels.
  • Applying the labels on a wooden chopping board offers a solid surface to allow you to press more firmly on the iron.
  • Avoid using the part of the iron that has steam holes. Instead use the flat part without holes to allow more heat to be applied.

Questions? Check out these FAQs.

The text is looking smudged or faded, what do I do?

This may be due to the iron being too hot and melting the label OR because of the iron moving during application. Make sure to hold your iron 100% still, especially when you first put the iron over the label. If this doesn’t work, try turning the heat of the iron down and/or holding the iron over the label for a shorter time giving only short bursts of heat.

Why has my label come off in the wash?

This may be due to the iron’s heat not penetrating through to activate the adhesion of the label. Make sure the iron is hot enough, that the piece of fabric isn’t too thick and that you’ve held the iron on for long enough. You can go over the same label numerous times as long as you use the transfer paper. But be careful as overheating the label may cause it to melt.

Another suggestion is to apply the labels on a wooden chopping board, as it offers a solid surface to allow you to press more firmly on the iron. You will need to apply the heat for less time if you are using this method, using the part of the iron that doesn’t have any steam holes to allow more heat to be applied.

What are the sheets of paper I got with my order used for?

This is transfer (or parchment) paper and it is to be used when you iron the labels onto your clothing. If you run out or lose this paper, you can simply use good-quality parchment paper instead.

How will I know if my iron is at the correct temperature?

The temperature and timing may differ depending on the type of fabric and make of iron, e.g. cotton will need a higher temperature with longer pressure and nylons will need a lower temperature with less pressure. We highly recommend that you test your clothing labels in an inconspicuous area before using all of your clothing labels. You can go over the labels as many times as needed if the temperature is not high enough initially.

Are Iron On Labels washing machine and clothes dryer safe?

Yes, as long as you’ve applied them correctly, our Iron On Labels will probably outlast the clothing itself. They’re that durable!

We recommend that you wait for at least 24 hours before putting the item into the washing machine or dryer to allow the fabric to completely adhere to the clothing labels. They can be put through washing machines and dryers without peeling off, even industrial-style machines that are used in boarding schools.

What fabrics can Iron On Labels be used on?

These Iron On Labels work best on fabrics that allow for irons, such as 100% cotton. We love to use them on school uniforms, hats, socks, underwear, towels, and even some swimwear (although this last one can be a little tricky to get right).

If your clothing doesn’t suit ironing try our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels. You can read more about them HERE.

Where can I find Iron On Labels?

Our Iron On Labels can be purchased in an Iron On Labels Value Kit or by themselves in single-label packs. You can get small or large quantities to suit the amount of clothes you need to label.

Not a fan of Iron On Labels? That’s okay! They’re simply not for everyone. That’s exactly the reason why we designed these fuss-free & time-saving Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels. With these, you can label your kid’s clothes faster than ever before. As an added bonus, they’re washer and dryer friendly, guaranteeing they stay vibrant for years to come!

To use our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels, simply peel, wrap and stick the labels to the clothes’ care tags and that’s it! No ironing needed. You can follow along with the Instructional Video below in real time to see how it’s done!

Watch how easy it is to use our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels

As easy as one, two, three! To apply just…

Have you got any questions? Check out these FAQs.

What fabrics can Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels be used on?

These labels are designed to stick to clothing tags. Tags with a nylon or polyester base work best! They’re perfect for school uniforms and hats, no iron needed! They are also perfect for brands or size labels that have a loop to thread these labels through.

How do I apply these Labels?

Applying these Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels is a breeze. You can follow along in real-time with the video at the top of this post!

They apply easily to the care tags inside most clothing items. Simply sit the Wrap & Stick Clothing Label flat on the clothing’s care tag & fold the two outer sides behind, sticking them firmly on top of each other… kind of like our Wrap & Stick Clothing Label is giving your care tag a bear hug!

Can these Labels be used in my washing machine and clothes dryer?

Yes! Once they’ve been applied correctly, they can be put through washing machines and clothes dryers without peeling off, even industrial-style machines that are used in places like boarding schools.

How long will these Labels last?

These Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels are semi-permanent. When applied correctly, they will last for ages!

If you’re looking for a cotton or permanent clothing label, you’ll love our Iron On Labels that come in a variety of coordinated designs & match beautifully with our personalised school & daycare supplies. These can be found in almost all our Label Combo Packs!

What materials are the Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels made from?

Our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels are produced on high-quality vinyl. They are waterproof and when the label is folded over itself around your care tag, they stay stuck. The adhesive on the back of these tags is designed to last in the washer & dryer.

If you’re looking for a cotton clothing label, you’ll love our Iron On Labels that come in a variety of coordinated designs & match beautifully with our Label Combo Packs!

I have an extra-large care tag, what can I do?

We now have Large Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels for extra large care tags!

Alternatively, you can fold the clothing’s care tag in half, securing the label around like normal. As a third option, you can use 2 of the Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels, one on the back of the other so that there’s a good amount of vinyl adhering the 2 labels together.

To follow along with these methods you can watch Instructional Video at the top of this blog post!

How can I resize these Labels?

For younger kids or smaller tags, these Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels can be easily cut to fit any sized care tags. You can watch our Instructional Video to see how to resize these labels.

Simply stick your Wrap & Stick Clothing Label to the care tag like normal, then trim the ends just a little to fit the tag. Make sure that the two sides still fold over each other & adhere to themselves before you cut. If you cut them too short, they may not have enough vinyl to adhere to on the other side.

Are these okay for kids with sensitive skin?

If your child’s skin is sensitive to tags, you might like to try our Iron On Clothing Labels which merge with the fabric and are great for kids with sensitive skin.

Can these be applied straight to the clothing?

These Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels are designed for clothing with tags. If your little ones don’t like tags or for items without clothing tags like socks, you will love our Iron On Clothing Labels instead.

Where can I buy Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels?

The Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels are featured in most of our Label Value Kits, or you can get them by themselves in single-label packs, great if you want to label a lot of clothing!

Mummy Tip: Organise With Colours and Labels

This Mum’s organisation tips help her to stay mega organised.  By colour coding and labelling her kids items at home, she manages to help her kids keep track of  their own belongings. You’ll be amazed to learn how super easy it is.

Deidre Turner, Mum of 5, tells Bright Star Kids

As a mum of 5 little kids I’m a huge fan of colour coding kids things, I really believe it makes life easier for me and the kids. I am a tad obsessed with colour coding, as you can probably guess.

What is colour coding?

Colour coding kids’ stuff is where you assign each child a colour and buy items in that colour so they can easily identify what belongs to who.

Organisation Tips
What are the benefits of colour coding for kids?

  • Own fewer items overall, 1-2 things in each child’s colour.
  • Kids take responsibility for their items more easily. It is much simpler for little kids to take their dishes to the kitchen and hang up their towel when they can easily identify which items are theirs based on looking for ‘their’ colour.
  • Easy for parents to see at a glance who has been leaving their dishes/towel lying around!
  • Easier sorting with items like socks, jocks clothing etc when you can see the colour at a glance.
  • No fighting over who gets what colour. This was seriously the biggest benefit for me, my older twins used to argue endlessly over one particular green plate, assigning colours eliminated these arguments completely.
  • Rainbows make people happy (I just made that one up-but my rainbow shelf makes me happy)

Who benefits from colour coding for kids?

If you have 2 or more kids, you’ll benefit from colour coding, the more kids you have, the easier it makes life to have a system like this in place.

I started colour coding when I had my 2nd set of twins over 2.5 years ago (I had 5 kids in 5 years), I figured I was going to need to level up if I was going to keep up with 5 little boys!

I didn’t do all this overnight, I’ve bought things gradually and added things I colour code over time.

Picking colours:

Organisation Tips

To pick the colours I went with easy to find primary colours, red, green, blue, yellow and orange. I have all boys so steered away from pink and purple, however pink and purple are easier to find than yellow and orange, so if you’ve got a girl (or boy) that loves pink or purple, those are great colours to use. I’ve found the 4 easiest colours to find are green, blue, pink and purple.

To decide who had which colour for which child, I went with the favourite colours for the older three kids. The younger 2 just got assigned a colour at birth.

The kids colours are as follows:

Mr. 8 twin 1: red

Mr. 8 twin 2: green

Mr. 5.5: blue

Mr. 2.5 twin 1: orange

Mr. 2.5 twin 2: yellow

Mr. Green recently told me that his favourite colour is now purple, but I’ve instituted a ‘no changing colours’ rule as I’ve already bought all his stuff in green

What items do you colour code?

Organisation Tips

You can colour code anything really, towels, dinnerware and name stickers are a good place to start.

Here is a list of the items I have colour coded, I’ll list the brand next to them so people can find them if they want:

  • 2 bath towels (mine are the Pillow Talk Urban Range)
  • 1 face washer (Pillow Talk Urban Range)
  • 1 toothbrush (Caredent Kids Junior Sparkle Toothbrush)
  • 1 laundry hamper (eBay cheapie)
  • 2 plates (1 divider plate, 1 normal-RePlay)
  • 2 bowls (1 small, 1 large-RePlay)
  • 2 cups (1 sippy cup for the younger 2-RePlay)
  • 1 double snack pod (RePlay)
  • 1 drink bottle (Nike)
  • 1 Personalised Bento Lunch box (Bright Star Kids)Organisation Tips
  • Kids Name Labels (Bright Star Kids)Organisation Tips
  • 1 Personalised Swim Bag (Bright Star Kids)Organisation Tips
  • 1 Personalised beach towel (Yellow Duck Baby Gifts)
  • approximately 7 pairs of undies (Big W, but the orange and yellow ones are hand made by my very talented friend as I couldn’t find these colours in store)
  • approximately 7 pairs of socks (If I can’t find the right colours, I just black or white in a size that fits multiple kids)

Other things I colour code:

Organisation Tips

Hangers:

Approximately 20 hangers per child (I colour coded their hangers by buying coloured dots from Officeworks and sticking them on wooden hangers from Kmart). Kids’ clothes are hung on their colour coded hangers straight out of the washing machine to save folding.

Clothing:

While I don’t colour code the kids’ clothes, I do draw a dot in their colour on the tag of their clothes so I can quickly identify who’s clothing is whose. This is handy when you have several kids in similar sizes like I do. When the clothing is passed down, I just draw the next kid’s coloured dot next to the first one and so on.

Stationery:

Organisation Tips
  • I have chalk pens in each child’s colour which I use to write their appointments etc on my planner board with (chalk pens and board from Daily Orders)
  • Folder dividers in their colour to easily identify each child’s section in a folder of important information (bank statements, birth certificates etc). Instead of having 1 folder each I consolidated this down into all 5 kids paperwork in one folder. (from Officeworks)
  • Ring binders in their colour containing their daycare and school achievements. (from Officeworks)
  • I know this list is pretty extensive, but what you colour code is up to you. Products I really recommend from experience is everything RePlay (recycled and really durable), my boys are rough with their stuff and the RePlay items still look like new after 2 years. Plus they have an awesome range of colours. Also Nike drink bottles are the bomb, my boys destroyed every other type but these ones are really sturdy and don’t break or leak and come in a good range of colours.

My kids love their colour coded items and like all the things I make them in ‘their’ colour. I never have any fights or issues with this system with my kids, it works great. Even my 2 year olds know their colour and can get their towel off the hook and carry their bowls to the sink.

We hope that you’re inspired by Deidre’s colour coding and labelling for kids. It’s a great way to teach your kids life skills and to encourage independence at home while also helping you to keep life organised.

How To Label Back To School Supplies

Stop Lost Property

As a mum of 3 kids all at school, January can be just as expensive and busy as December as I try and get everything needed for back to school!

My shopping list for back to school each year includes new school shoes, uniforms, socks, books, lunch boxes, bottles, stationery, and last but not least, a Value Label Kit.

Even though labels cost more than a Sharpie pen, from past experience I’ve found that investing in labels will end up saving you much more in the long run, as lost property can be easily identified and will be returned to you or the classroom teacher.

Before I started labelling with Bright Star Kids Labels, I’m not sure how many school hats, jumpers, lunch boxes, and stationery items my kids have lost. The unlabelled property does not always end up in lost property as it can be quickly claimed as someone else’s property! On average, I spend around $250 per child on all of their belongings, and with hats and shoes being one of the more expensive items, it’s essential that they’re labelled clearly.

Personalise School Belongings

Labels Combo Pack:

Before back-to-school time, I like to get one of the School Labels Kit that has all the labels I need for my kids’ belongings. The stick-on labels are super durable as they’re 100% waterproof, fade-proof, scratch-resistant, and dishwasher safe & guess what else?… They include Bright Star Kids’ popular Wrap & Stick clothing labels. No more ironing on labels. The best part though? My kids don’t report any lost property anymore.

My kids love picking their own labels combo pack and the live preview on the Bright Star Kids website makes it a really fun process. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of time for this as there are lots of designs to choose from, perfect for babies right up to the fussiest tween or teenager! On the other hand, if your child wants something plainer or doesn’t want an icon, never fear because there is also a Plain Labels Value Kit that will just have their name printed on a plainer style label.

Stick-On Labels:

The stick-on labels can stay stuck on most types of smooth plastic surfaces, like the ones in the image above. Some frosted finished plastics don’t allow the labels to stick properly, but usually, most containers have an area that is completely smooth so just pop the label onto that section. That’s where the tiny labels come in handy, as they can usually fit onto even the smallest section.

The Subject Labels that come in the School Labels Kit come with a blank area that you can write on the subject and class name. I find a permanent marker works best as it looks nice and neat.

My kids love sharing their stationery with their classmates. With this in mind, I like to use the Tiny pencil labels to label everything so all their bits & pieces end up back on their desk & in their pencil case! Replacing all these things during the year is a right pain and can end up being very costly.

Shoe Labels:

I use the Round Shoe Labels in my kids’ (very expensive) school shoes. They’re really easy to use, I simply stick one of the coloured round labels into the shoe and then stick the blank clear round label over the top. This gives the name label extra protection against the wear and tear of my kids’ feet (if you don’t do this the writing might rub off). These labels again have outlasted most of my kids’ shoes so they’re really durable!

Clothing Labels:

To label all of my kids’ uniforms and other smaller clothing items like socks and hats, the Iron-On labels are perfect. The labels merge well even with stretchy fabrics like socks.

I used to label my kids’ clothing with a permanent marker, but they looked really ugly after a lot of washes. The fading and smudges made it hard to identify. After finding these Iron On Labels, I’d never go back to writing on my kids’ clothing.

These iron-on labels are really easy to iron on to most types of fabrics and they’re washing machine & dryer safe. They’re so durable that I’ve found they’ve outlasted most of my kids’ clothing. They’re pretty much impossible to remove so they’ll never be able to be claimed by anyone else!

For Back To School, we recommend the School Labels Value Kit because it includes a label for every little thing:

  • Stick On Name Labels in various sizes (for lunch containers, drink bottles, & stationery)
  • Iron On Labels (for hats, socks & uniform items)
  • Shoe Labels with clear protection covers (for school or sport shoes)
  • Subject Labels (for various subjects)

Another great thing about name labels is that I’m finding as my kids get older, they go on more excursions & even overnight camps. I now label everything that goes away with them, from their socks & undies to the toiletries they need to take with them. I usually keep extra labels from my label kit that I keep in a drawer.  As I need them throughout the year, I can just pull them out & label the necessary items. How convenient!

I hope this helps you a bit with your back-to-school organisation.
